Requirements For a Domestic Partnership.
In the last two months, I have received about four to five different calls on domestic partnerships for some reason or another.
Domestic partnerships are similar in rights to a marriage, they do have a couple of different requirements that are necessary for you to be able to file it in Nevada. There are five requirements that I want to touch upon.
The first one is, that both people must be over the age of 18 years and older, to be able to enter into a domestic partnership.
Number two, unlike a marriage, the couple must recite together before they can apply for a domestic partnership. It’s not necessary in marriage, but for a domestic partnership, the couple must recite together.
Number three, the couple must not be related by blood in any way. They have to be in a non-familial relationship in order for them to apply for a domestic partnership.
Neither partner must be married to another person, even though this is not technically a marriage, it does give you the rights of marriage, and so, therefore, to apply for a domestic partnership, neither party can be married to any other person.
And finally, the partners must both be able to legally enter into the domestic relationship. Everybody must be of sound mind, everybody has to be of age, and everybody has to be aware of what it is that they’re entering into.
Those are the five main criteria for people to enter into a domestic relationship. If you have questions about this and want to discuss this any further. Please give me a call, or go to vegasdivorcemeeting.com, I’ll be more than happy to sit down with you to discuss your questions and your particular situation.
